The Overwatch community will be receiving more hero lore as an Amazon listing reveals an upcoming new book based on the game.
On Amazon’s US site, a listing for a book about Orisa’s creator Efi Okadele, titled “The Hero of Nimbani” appeared. The book is listed to preorder for $5.99. Additionally, the book is described as “Overwatch, Book#1”, meaning we will get to see more books in the future that might hold other character’s stories.
The Overwatch lore has always been an important aspect of the game for the community, Blizzard has delivered character’s backstories through comics, plenty of digital shorts a cookbook, and now, Overwatch will finally be getting its own book published by Scholastic, who specializes in children’s books. The publish date is set in May 2020.
The book will center on Efi Oladele the Numbani hero that created Orisa to defend the people of Numbani from Doomfist, who has attacked them in the past.
“Efi has been making robots since she was little—machines to better her community and improve people’s lives,” the description reads. “But after she witnesses Doomfist’s catastrophic attack on the city’s OR15 security bots, Efi feels the call to build something greater: a true guardian of Numbani.”
The action-packed novel will feature the following characters: Efi, Orisa, Doomfist, and Lucio.
The Overwatch community has been requesting more Overwatch lore for a long time, a lot of heroes still lack detailed backstories, such as Lucio and Zenyatta.
Overwatch has included a lot of diversity in their game, making it much common for various parts of the Overwatch community to feel connected to specific heroes, hence creating the need for more lore for their favorite character.
