Popular Twitch streamers Francine ‘FRAN’ Vo and Becca ‘Aspen’ Ruka will be joining the same team to participate in the Overwatch Contenders 2020.
On October 16, North American Overwatch organization Revival announced their roster for the 2020 Path to pro. Bogur and Manneten as their tank players, Aspire and Reyzrow as their damage dealer players, and Aspen and Fran will both be the support players for the team.
Aspen will be filling in the role of main support while Fran will be the flex support player.
Aspen announced back on July 25 that she’ll be leaving Cloud 9 to pursue her goal in joining the Overwatch League, as for Fran, she has spent her time participating in scrims and nurturing her skills planning to compete professionally in the future.
Both Aspen and Fran seem to be on the right path to becoming professional Overwatch players, eyes will surely be focused on them and their journey towards the big stage, the Overwatch League.
Revival finished last place in season 2 of 2019 only managing to win 1 game out of 7, the organization will be competing next season with a completely new line up.
The first female player to join the Overwatch League is Geguri, and since then she’s become a role model for a lot of aspiring women that want to become professionals one day.
“Since I am the only female player in the whole league, I think there are a lot of people who look up to me and see me as a role model,” says Geguri. “Knowing this, I’m trying a lot harder to inspire others to get to where I am today.”
Both Aspen and Fran joining the Overwatch Contenders will be another huge step for women to prove they’re able to hold their own and compete at a professional level against the best.
