SK Telecom T1 officially confirms the departure of coach Kim “Kkoma” Jeong-gyun from the team.
Kkoma has been couching SK Telecom since the start of the organization’s competition in the popular MOBA game, League of Legends.
The famous coach managed to secure three world championship titles with the team, along with the popular mid laner, Faker that extended his contract with the team until 2021.
Kkoma with a Mid-Season Invitational and eight domestic titles to his name is without a doubt a successful and respected coach in League of Legends.
The upcoming season will be the first season where Faker will compete without Kkoma overseeing and coaching him throughout the season.
SK Telecom T1 came out short in Worlds against G2 Esports, eliminated in the semifinals of the tournament.
Sk Telecom T1 released a farewell video for their beloved coach, with Kkoma sharing his thoughts in regards to the organization.
Kkoma has yet to announce his plans for the future, but according to a report by ESPN, he is planning to fill in as the head coach for Vici Gaming in China’s LPL. The same report states that Kkoma turned down a seven-figure, multi-year deal with SKT to do so.
The new coach for SK Telecom T1 will be Kim Jeong-soo, previously coached Invictus Gaming to their World Championship victory in 2018, he also coached DAMWON in 2019 and taking the LCK rookies to the Worlds playoffs.
