Valve has recently announced their new Half-Life: Alyx game, leaving the Half-Life fans excited to try out the new game. But that’s not all of it, Valve might be considering working on more Half-Life games in the future.
In an interview with The Verge, Valve programmer David Speyrer has answered a couple of questions in regards to Half-Life, and whether Half-Life Alyx signals a full return to the series that fans have been looking forward to. Speyrer says: “Yes. It’s probably no surprise that many people at Valve have been wanting to get back to the Half-Life universe for a long time, and this experience has only reinforced that.”
Speyrer explains that in the process of creating the VR game the developers have had to “explore new ways to tell stories with these characters and this world, and we’ve discovered a lot of new gameplay experiences that go beyond what we’ve been able to do before.”
He also added that they’ll be waiting to see how players will react to the Half-Life: Alyx once the game is out.
To play the new game you’ll need a VR headset because Half-Life: Alyx is expressly designed for virtual reality. The news left a lot of Half-Life disappointed hoping to experience the game the traditional way, on a keyboard and mouse.
The minimum game requirements Valve is listing aren’t too high: a Windows 10 computer with a Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 5 1600 or better, with a GTX 1060 or RX 580 graphics card or better. As for Ram 8GB should be enough, although 12GB is recommended.
Half-Life: Alyx should be released on Steam in March 2020, and although it’s only playable using a VR headset, players are definitely looking forward to trying the game out.
