A new hint suggests that the PlayStation 5 might be launch in North America first.

Although Sony has yet to announce the official release date for the PS5, rumors are spreading that the release date of the new console will be staggered. The PS5 will arrive first in North America during this year’s holiday season before being released to the rest of the world.

The potential PS5 staggered release date surfaced after Riaan van Wyk highlighted on Twitter the strange wording in the trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which has now has been made private on YouTube. It states that the PS5 console is “coming Holiday 2020 US and Canada,” whereas for “the rest of the world” it will launch “late 2020.”

The same phrasing can be found on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War website

Sony has a history of staggering the release date of its consoles between the North American, Japanese, PAL, Europe, South America, and Asia. PlayStation 4 was released in North America in November 2013, PAL regions one week later, and Japan in February 2014.
