According to Sony’s financial report the Playstation 4 had shipped 108.9 million devices worldwide as of the end of December 2019, of which 106 million devices were sold directly to customers.
Sales depending on Region:
United States of America 30.4%, with 32.2 million devices sold.
Japan 8.3%, with 8.75 million devices sold.
The rest of the world (Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and other markets)
69.6% with 65 million devices sold.
PlayStation 4 sales dropped by 25 percent this year’s holiday, Sony shipped 6.1 million units. It’s the lowest holiday quarter for the PS4 since it’s launch in 2013. The reason behind the sales drop is probably the consumer’s preparation for the new generation console the PlayStation 5.
The PlayStation 4 has achieved a remarkable success since it’s launch and it seems it’s coming to an end now, Sony has already started hyping their fans for the PlayStation 5 which is set to release at the end of this year. Predictions suggest that the PlayStation 5 sales will not perform better than it’s predecessor.
