Sony has revealed details in regards to the new PlayStation 5 controller (DualShock 5) and although we were given information on the capabilities of the controller, we weren’t given any renders of the DualShock 5, nor its official name.
LetsGoDigital published the new DualShock 5 renders created by Italian graphic designer Guiseppe Spinelli. The renders are based on a design patent that Sony filed with the Japanese office back in November. The render might look quite similar to the actual design since it’s based on the patent.
The first thing that comes to notice is that the controller doesn’t have any buttons on the back, the actual PS5 controller might have rear buttons. In the middle of the controller, there’s a touchpad and the same older-gen button layout remains on the front of the new controller, which was expected.
Sony recently announced a new accessory for the DualShock 4, a back button attachment which offers two extra buttons on the controller, the buttons can be configured according to the player’s desire, there’s a high chance that it’ll ve available on the DualShock 5.
The render also shows the new controller slightly bulkier than its predecessor, which makes sense since the DualShock 5 holds high-tech haptics that offers better, more specific feedback in games than the previous model.
The DualShock 5 will also come with better speakers along with longer battery life than its predecessor.
The PlayStation 5 will go on sale next Holiday Season, Sony will unveil the new console on February 2020.
