Activision Blizzard released a new financial report for its third quarter of 2020, announcing that it generated $1.2 billion revenue from microtransactions.
Last year, Activision Blizzard made $709 million in microtransactions meaning that the company increased its profit by %69 over the previous year.
According to the report, Activision Blizzard generated a total of $1.9 billion in revenue from all its business, which means that microtransactions have accumulated more than half the company’s total revenue.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone microtransaction sales increased four-fold year over year. Modern Warfare’s first-year sales are the highest in Call of Duty history, and two-thirds of sales came digitally.
In addition, Activision Blizzard said that microtransaction revenue from King’s games, the company that made Candy Crush, increased year over year.
