ESL and Valve have announced that ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Dota 2 Major will be postponed due to coronavirus (COVID-19.)

The decision was made after the situation in the United States worsened, and President Donald Trump’s new travel suspension regarding Europe and the United States.

Esports journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau shared the news first stating that ESL and Valve have made the decision to completely cancel the event before ESL clarified in an official statement that the Major will not be canceled, but will instead be postponed to a later date.

“While we were very excited to bring the first-ever Dota 2 Major to Los Angeles, the safety and well-being of our players, attendees, coaches, partners, and ESL staff must come first […] We are deeply disappointed but believe that this outcome is in the best interest of all of the people who make these incredible events possible,” ESL said in a statement.

ESL and Valve have yet to determine a new time and location for the Major but are working on it. The Los Angeles Major was originally scheduled to be held from March 15 till 22, with the Main Event of the competition from March 20 till 22.

ESL is also currently working with the venue and ticketing company to get everyone who purchased tickets for their refund.
