Tyler “Ninja” Belvins, popular Twitch streamer known for streaming the game Fortnite, tweeted a comedic video announcing that he will be leaving Twitch, and will be moving on to Mixer, another streaming platform that isn’t quite as big as Twitch.
Ninja assured his fans that not much will change in his streams, he’s only going to be streaming on another platform full time, his reason behind it “I just feel like I’m going to get back to the streaming roots”.
The move is a huge loss to Twitch, Ninja has 14 million followers making him the most-followed streamer, with such a move Ninja, will have to build his audience from scratch on Mixer, he currently has 39,000 followers on Mixer.
Ninja’s video featured two of his sponsors, Red Bull and Adidas, making it safe to say that they’ll continue sponsoring him even after the move.
Microsoft likely convinced Ninja to make the move to Mixer through a great deal.
Ninja’s move to Mixer is problematic to Twitch especially after the controversy that Twitch has been dealing with, the Alinity situation that got a lot of viewers and streamers to lose trust in the Twitch’s moderation staff.
This move could be the stepping stone for Mixer to rival Twitch equally, Ninja’s move also opens the possibility for other Twitch streamers that aren’t fond of Twitch anymore to make the move as well.
