Popular Anime website KissAnime has been taken down and reportedly will not be back up.
Both KissAnime and its sister site KissManga have been taken down due to DMCA copyright claims.

KissAnime is a site that offers free anime shows for everyone to watch, often pirated content. Both sites ran for years until DMCA copyright claims forced them to shut down.

The announcement was made via KissAnime Discord server, where the site’s support account messaged those in the server letting them known that both sites have been taken down.

“Our beta servers have been taken down, this could lead to the close of the website,” the support account messaged. “We will make more announcement after we have the decision.”

“All files are taken down by copyright owners. KissManga and KissAnime will be closed forever,” the message reads. “Thank you for your supports. Thank you for those years.”

The message from KissAnime support account suggests that both websites are gone for good, viewers might want to look for other websites that offer similar services.

Even though the move benefits the Anime industry it left a lot of Anime fans upset and fearful that other websites that offer pirated content might be at risk as well.

With KissAnime down many websites are trying to scam viewers by using the website’s URL, or copying its design to lure them in and get their personal data.
